Saakashvili: Georgian pupils are to become English speakers soon
A reform is expected to take place in the educational system of Georgia during the upcoming years as a result of which all the children who are already five years old will have to learn English. Said Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili on the meeting with the volunteer teachers who had arrived in Batumi from the US, Canada, and European countries, Interfax reports.
“During the upcoming 4 years all the pupils will become English speakers. It means that they will know English better than any other language, after their mother-tongue of course,” Saakashvili said.
In the same time the Georgian leader has stressed that “based on the present needs Georgian children will learn also Chinese, Arabic, Turkish, Russian as well as other languages.”
Mikheil Saakashvili also informed that a number of English language teachers will arrive in Georgia from different countries of the world.
