World Bank to loan $900 mln in financial support for Pakistan
The World Bank is to loan $900 million in financial support for Pakistan to help it recover from its worst ever floods that have displaced millions of people and destroyed homes, farms and bridges.
Country’s officials said that the devastating floods had affected up to 20 million people and left at least 1,500 dead.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said two days ago that the organisation will allocate a further $10 million from its Central Emergency Response Fund, bringing its contribution to $27 million since the crisis began in Pakistan more than two weeks ago.
