Two Lebanese sentenced to death over charges of spying for Israel
A Lebanese military court sentenced Tuesday two men to death on charges of spying for Israel’s Mossad, country’s media reported.
The Canadian Press quoted Lebanese officials as saying that Antoine Atmi recruited Osama Berri and they both gave information to Israel during the war, which resulted in the deaths of fellow citizens.
In the 2006 war between Israel and Lebanon's Hezbollah group, 1,200 Lebanese and 160 Israelis were killed. The relations between the two countries are still at war.
The ministry of justice said that more than 150 spies were identified. Some of the high ranking military officials were arrested in Lebanon since 2009.
