Serzh Sargsyan: Armenia’s position over NKR conflict is unchanged
Armenia’s position over the Nagorno Karabakh conflict is unchanged. The conflict should be resolved through peaceful means, in line with the principle of non-use of force or threat of force, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan told a joint press conference with Russian President Dmitry Mededev today in Yerevan adding that the conflict resolution should be based on the norms of international law and international standards.
Serzh Sargsyan thanked his Russian counterpart for his mediation efforts in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement.
“I am grateful to Russia for its realization of the necessity to ensure balance of forces and to prevent military threats in the region, for its contribution to Nagorno Karabakh conflict resolution,” Serzh Sargsyan said mentioning that Dmitry Medvedev made efforts to organize a series of trilateral meetings between Armenian, Azerbaijani, and Russian Presidents.
In return, Dmitry Medvedev thanked President Sargsyan for stressing Russia’s contribution and expressed readiness to keep supporting the conflict resolution.
“We are ready to keep our mediation in problem’s political resolution, in search of ways of mutually acceptable resolution within the framework of OSCE and through bilateral meetings between Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents,” Medvedev said.
