Russia declares 100% SCR investment plan, says Prime Minister
During the Armenian-Russian talks within the framework of Russian President’s official visit to Armenia, Russia’s Minister of Transport Igor Levitin raised the issue related to the operating of the South Caucasian Railways, which is a subsidiary company of the Russian Railways.
Igor Levitin said that in 2010 the Russian side will fully implement the investment plan as for the past two years there was registered a decline of investments and the concessional investment program wasn’t carried out. “So, the Russian side bound itself to fulfill the investment plan in 2010,” said Armenia’s Prime Minister Tigran Sarkisian in his interview with the Public Armenian Television.
He said that the focus will mostly be on the improvement of the rolling stock. “Road improvement is also important as it will enlarge the speed of the passenger transport. The third important goal is to implement a new model of management which will improve its efficiency. In this case it will be possible to avoid problems with booking the tickets,” said Prime Minister.
