Our prices go up irrespective of international market situation
Ex-President of the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA) Bagrat Asatryan spoke about the situation in the grain market at a press conference mentioning that the grain prices were affected by the situation in South and North America, yet Russia played a decisive role in the market.
According to the speaker, Russia’s ban on grain exports “was a diversion against the very Russian grain producers.”
“The prices in the international grain market went up after suspension of grain exports from Russia but the situation stabilized later due to redistribution in the market and good news from Canada and Argentina which proved to be reaping a rich harvest,” Asatryan said in his remarks.
“Flour price went up 20-25 percent in Armenia, while Armenia has not yet imported grain at increased price. Prices in Armenia go up irrespective of the situation in the international market,” speaker stressed.
