Opponents and supporters of the Mosque project in New York
Opponents of the mosque project in New York demand the mosque to be moved farther from the site where more than 2,700 people were killed on Sept. 11, 2001, Associated Press says.
Opponents of the $100 million project two blocks from the World Trade Center site appeared to outnumber supporters, the source informs.
Hundreds of impassioned demonstrators — all waving American flags, but separated into two groups by police — descended on the site of the proposed mosque near ground zero, with opponents chanting, "No mosque, no way!", informs the Associated Press.
