Gas poisons 40 female students in Afghanistan
Forty students of a girls’ school in Kabul, Afghanistan were hospitalized with gas poisoning. Their condition is not critical, Reuters reported citing the Ministry of Education of Afghanistan.
A similar poisoning caused by an unidentified gas was reported in the northern Kunduz Province at the end of April, when about 90 students from a girls’ schools fell ill.
None of the anti-government groups has claimed responsibility for the attacks but police and security officials blame the Taliban.
Like many ordinary Afghans, the Taliban believe that women and girls must go through life uneducated and that their place is under a veil at the family hearth.
