Telman Mkhitarian, an honored citizen of Veliky Novgorod, is accused of illegal business in Russia. Currently, the Armenian police are going to deport him to Russia for extradition.
Telman was the owner of a range of companies, while during the Soviet-era times he took under control the significant part of economy of the region. Under former Governor of the region, Mikhail Prusak, Telman was an adviser for political affairs.
Reportedly, in the near hours, police officials of Veliky Novgorod will release a statement for media.
In June of 2005, an attempt of killing was made against Telman Mkhitarian, close to a restaurant; however, he survived the blast and even wasn’t wounded. The killers aren’t still found.
In November of 2007, Russian police entered a case against Telman in charges of illegal business following which he can be sentenced to five-year term of imprisonment. The case was filled in absentia of Telman as his location was unknown and he was put on international list of wanted persons.
Telman Mkhitarian’s lawyers deny any wrongdoing and violation of law and say that don’t agree with charges.
