Israeli businessman buys large oil field in Georgia
One of leaders of the Labor Party of Georgia, Kakhaber Dzagania has accused country’s President Mikheil Saakashvili and former defense minister David Kazerashvili that they had sold for their own purposes and the sake of profit a large oil-field as if it was a simple land to former Israeli lawmaker, businessman Shmuel Plato-Sharon.
Kakhaber Dzagania told reporters that the oil field in Eastern Georgia, some 100 kilometers from capital Tbilisi, in line with preliminary information has more than 800 million barrels of oil, and it is valued at nearly $50 billion.
“Saakashvili and Kazerashvili sold the oil, which was discovered thank to spending from a state budget, to Israeli businessman with a condition that they would share the oil-field in the future,” said Kakhaber Dzagania.
“The Labor Party demands to annul the agreement and that the oil-field at multi-billion value to remain a state-owned one and, as result, a property of the nation,” he added.
