Turkey says won’t open border with Armenia for NATO exercises
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has said that Turkey isn’t planning to open the border with Armenia even temporarily.
This statement was made during a meeting with people of province Konia aimed at the upcoming referendum on changes in Turkish constitution, APA agency reported citing Turkish agency DHA.
Davutoglu said that the September 11-17 NATO exercises with participation of Armenia and Turkey have clearly humanitarian nature.
“These exercises have an aim at elimination of the consequences of disasters like earthquakes. Turkey as a NATO member surely will participate in these exercises. However, the issue of opening the border with Armenia isn’t on agenda; it will not be open even temporarily,” he said.
