Flour at possible low price in Armenia, says Artak Shaboyan
“The flour is being sold in Armenia at the lowest possible price,” said at today’s press conference Chairman of the State Commission of Armenia for Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC) Artak Shaboyan.
He said that the SCPEC specialists conducted in July and August wheat and flour price monitoring as after the statement of Prime Minister Putin of Russia on ban on foreign sales of wheat the world prices for wheat have been growing.
Artak Shaboyan said that the wheat price growth also influenced foreign cargo. He said that the price for a kilogram of flour in Armenia declined by 20% in August and that a kilogram of the premium flour is 200 drams and no more. He assured that in comparison with the world prices this is quite a low cost. For example, in the European countries a tone of wheat costs $300, while in Ukraine - $320.
“We conduct a daily monitoring,” said Shaboyan. Referring to the buckwheat price growth, he said that the SCPEC had already requested statistics over the issue and if it founds out that there are monopolistic companies then the commission will launch a monitoring program.
