Azerbaijan’s provocations caused by fears, says lawmaker

Armenian lawmaker, a Republican Mkrtich Minasian said at today’s press conference that Azerbaijan’s diversions receive a complete response from the Armenian side.

“Our army is capable of a complete counter-attack in response to diversionary attack of the enemy,” said Minasian referring to the growing number of attacks by Azerbaijani armed forces on Armenian position across line of contact between Azerbaijan and Nagorno Karabakh.

Diversionary attacks of Azerbaijan show its home problems, according to politician: “The diversions aimed at home demand are doomed to failure. While Armenian armed forces’ resistance against Azerbaijani diversionists show low combat abilities of the Army of Azerbaijan,” stressed the lawmaker.

“If the specially trained diversionists fail then what we can say about their Army? The authorities of Azerbaijan are trying to color these failures as suicides or legends about heroic soldiers,” said Minasian.

Minasian said that Azerbaijan’s activity can be caused by unfavorable to Baku developments in the Karabakh talks. Aliev’s administration hoped that Moscow will supply to Azerbaijan C-300 missiles, and a military-political agreement will be signed during recent Medvedev’s visit to Baku; however, none of these hopes came in true.”

Minasian also said that the position of OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs isn’t adequate. “The response should be targeted. It should be indicated that the author of provocations is Azerbaijan,” he said.
