The Jewish celebrate 5771st year
Today the Jewish all over the world celebrate one of the main fests of the year, the New Year. It says that the God has created the first man, Adam on that very day.
The Jewish New Year is called Rosh Hashanah which means “beginning of a new year.”
On the eve of the New Year the Jewish congratulate each other saying, “Let only good things be written about you.” According to the Jewish legend the names of all the people living on the earth are written in a thick book of Life that is in heaven. On the Rosh Hashanah which lasts for 2 days the God marks in that book the destiny of this or that person.
Before the celebratory dinner would start, the Jewish eat an apple with honey. On the dinner fish, pomegranate, dishes from carrot and other vegetables are served. The names of those dishes are directly connected with good events.
Today the Jewish give presents to each other and congratulate their relatives and friends living in different countries.
