UN Security Council condemns terror attack in Vladikavkaz
The UN Security Council issued Friday a statement strongly condemning the terrorist attack that had hit southern Russian city of Vladikavkaz (North Osetia).
The UN Security Council expressed “deep sympathy and condolences to the victims of the heinous act of terrorism and to the families, people and government of Russia.” It said that acts of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations are serious threats to international peace and security and described them as “criminal and unjustifiable.”
"The members of the Security Council condemn in the strongest terms the terrorist attack that occurred in Vladikavkaz, the Russian Federation, on September 9, 2010, causing numerous deaths and injuries," said in the statement.
The terror attack occurred in Vladikavkaz, near a central market, where a suicide-bomber blasted the car killing 16 people and injuring nearly 160 others, among them children. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
