Shakespeare a playwright of all time, says Deghtrikian

The International Shakespeare Theatre Festival after Vaghram Papazian will open this year featuring play Macbeth where famous Ara Deghtrikian will star. 

“These festivals’ better hand is that the viewer or art critics can have an opportunity to join the foreign culture as within the framework of the festival numerous theatre troupes travel to Armenia and introduce a fresh theater breath and handwriting,” said Ara Deghtrikian at the press conference Monday.

He said that the play Macbeth where he stars will show a bright performance, mysticism and great directorial work (director is a young stage director Vahan Badalian). Ara Deghtrikian stressed that the Macbeth is quite a difficult work for performing and due to this it isn’t being staged often.

Shakespeare is one of the greatest writers whose works catch the attention not only within festivals, according to Mr Deghtrikian. “Such a great master as Shakespeare is relevant to all times,” he said.

The International Shakespeare Theatre Festival after Vaghram Papazian will take place in Armenian capital Yerevan from September 15 to 24 being held in assistance with the Ministry of Culture of Armenia and the Union of Theatre Persons of Armenia. This year’s festival is dedicated to the 100th birth anniversary of Rouben Zarian, an academician, theatre critic, a founder of the Institute of Arts of the National Academy of Science of Armenia and a founder of the Shakespeare Center in Armenia.
