Saakasvili has called on Azerbaijan to bypass Russia
On the Energy Summit held in Baku President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili called on his Azerbaijani and Romanian counterparts not to stop on their achievements and continue the energy supply, bypassing Russia.
As reported tut.by news site, the President of Georgia made such a statement after the signing of the cooperation Declaration between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and the head of Romania Traian Beseskui, by which the gas will be supplied to Romania and other European countries from Azerbaijan through Georgia.
"The energy supplies to Europe will increase. It is important now to establish such connections to the south of Iran, Iraq and Turkey," said Saakashvili.
Emphasizing the important role of Georgia as a transit country, Georgian President reminded that Nabucco project is of no less importance.
"Europe will get natural gas through Azerbaijan and Georgia bypassing Russia. This is an important project, but no less important is Nabucco, which is to be developed," Mikheil Saakashvili said.
