UN General Assembly opens its 65th session
The 65th session of the United Nations General Assembly opened at the United Nations Headquarters in New York yesterday. Former President of Switzerland Joseph Deiss was elected President of the 65th session.
Addressing the opening of the session Deiss said he will spare no effort to make the session activities efficient. “We often hear that the United Nations and its General Assembly do not have real abilities and power, and are just a place to speak. However, I hope the 65th session will demonstrate the opposite,” Deiss said. “We have commitments and should keep them,” he said, according to PRIME-TASS.
