Mexico celebrates 200 years of independence
On Thursday, Mexico is celebrating 200 years of independence staging great festival on the occasion of the date.
Across the capital, more than a million of people flooded the streets, blowing horns and dancing alongside a parade of nearly several thousands of actors, dancers and musicians.
The festival’s culmination comes when country’s President Felipe Calderon will deliver a speech. He will ring the original independence bell from a balcony in Zocalo square and deliver solemn address containing names of nation’s heroes who battled against Spain.
The ceremony will be followed by colorful fireworks in the square and at the iconic Angel of Independence about two miles down the city's crowded main promenade.
