Armenia, Azerbaijan to meet within Border Management Program
Delegations from Armenia and Azerbaijan will meet once a year within the framework of the Integrated South Caucasus Border Management Program (ISCBMP), told media Chief of the ISCBMP Yerevan Office Grigor Maletian.
“Armenia’s delegation will meet once a year with counterparts from Azerbaijan traveling to Georgia for a session of the program’s governing border. This will be the only meeting between Armenian and Azerbaijani specialists on border control,” said Maletian. He described it as “there is none point of contact between the two parties.”
According to Maletian, the Integrated South Caucasus Border Management Program has quite a pragmatic platform as there is a bilateral cooperation between Armenia and Georgia, on the one hand, and between Georgia and Azerbaijan, on the other, separately.
The Integrated South Caucasus Border Management Program on Development of Strategy is a EU-backed and a EU-funded project at 1,4 million euros. The program’s aim is to build up appropriate operational and institutional capacity to manage borders in Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia; to expand and develop regional and international cooperation between the South Caucasus nations, the European Union and international structures.
