Iran to develop its own missile as Russia won’t supply C-300
Chief of the Genera Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia, Nikolay Makarov said that Russia will not supply C-300 missiles to Iran as this goes wrong with sanctions against Tehran imposed by the UN Security Council. When asked whether the agreement will be broken, Makarov didn’t give a clear answer. “We’ll see, it depends on Iran,” ITAR-TASS agency quoted him as saying.
Due to this decision by Russian authorities, Iranian Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi has said at the military parade marking the anniversary of the start of the Iran-Iraq war that the Iranian specialists are working over the similar missile of their own.
The agreement between Iran and Russia on supplying of C-300 missiles was reached in 2007; however, in line with statements of Russian officials, the June 9 UN sanctions get in the road of the implementation of the agreement.
