Armenia’s weightlifter wins World Champs in Turkey
Armenia’s weightlifter Tigran Martirosian (U77 kg) has won the World Weightlifting Championship which took place in Turkey’s Antalya city.
In the snatch attempt Tigran Martirosian lifted 173 kg and won the small gold medal. His main rival, an athlete from China Lu Xiaojun failed to lift 175 kg.
In the second round Tigran Martirosian in his second attempt lifted 200 kg. Then followed an unsuccessful third attempt, when Tigran dropped a 206-kilograme weight, however, after China’s Lu Xiaojun failed as well and couldn’t lift a 206-kilograme weight, it become clear that the Armenian sportsmen won the champs. Fans from tribunes shouted “Victory!”
Tigran Martirosian’s total weight is 373 kg. The second-seeded athlete became Lu Xiaojun at 370 kg, and the bronze went to Egypt’s sportsman Tarek Yehia who lifted total of 356 kg.
