Armenia waits for Turkey’s readiness, says Nalbandian
Armenia’s Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said in his address to the 65th session of the UN General Assembly, taking place in New York, that Turkey had backed away not only from the ratification of the signed Armenia-Turkey protocols, but went back to the language of preconditions in the process of reconciliation with Armenia.
Minister Nalbandian said that Armenia contrary to Turkey has strongly contributed to the process of normalisation of relations between the two nations. He said that Armenia’s initiative to normalise relations with Turkey without any preconditions was fully supported by international community.
“The Armenia-Turkey border is the only closed border in Europe,” said Nalbandian. “It is necessary to prove good intentions by working and not only by speaking. Armenia will be ready to move forward when Turkey declares that is setting to normalise relations without preconditions,” a spokesperson for Armenian Foreign Ministry quoted Nalbandian as saying.
