R. Giragosian: Spontaneous war may break out in Karabakh
I am rather concerned about possibility that a spontaneous war may break out in Karabakh, Richard Giragosian, Director of the Armenian Center for National and International Studies (ACNIS), told a news conference Monday.
“Sudden war may break out because Azerbaijan uses military attacks as diplomacy,” Giragosian said. “However, Armenia will repulse all attacks.”
“Azerbaijan makes military attacks merely for political purposes. Azerbaijan is the only threat to regional security, and Armenia should get ready for a war against Azerbaijan,” expert stated.
According to him, presently, OSCE Minsk Group exerts more pressure upon Azerbaijan than upon Armenia and Karabakh. Minsk Group also tries to hold back Azerbaijan from war.
As to OSCE Minsk Group former Co-chair Matthew Bryza’s appointment as Ambassador of U.S. to Azerbaijan, Giragosian stated that it is a challenge to the Azerbaijani leadership.
