Iran says will sue Russia over ban on S-300 missile deal
Chief of the Committee on National Security and Foreign Affairs of the Iranian Parliament, Alaeddin Boroujerdi said Sunday that Iran will sue Russia over refusal to supply S-300 missiles in line with agreements; some media reported citing local ISNA agency.
'The issue will be solved judicially and in such case Russia should pay compensations to Iran for stepping back. We hope Russia will meet its obligations as it did in case of Bushehr nuclear plant to secure its reputation in the region and the world,” the agency quoted Boroujerdi as saying.
The UN Security Council adopted on June 9 a new, the forth in a row, resolution on sanctions against Iran. The sanctions were supported by Russia and China. The resolution contains sanctions on weapons and weapon procurement.
In line with UN sanctions imposed against Iran following its refusal to halt the nuclear programme, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree on Wednesday, officially prohibiting the shipment of S-300 missile systems to Iran.
