North Korean leader’s son takes key post within Workers' Party
Son of North Korean leader Kim Jong Il, Kim Jong Eun, took his first positions within the ruling Workers' Party. He was named newly-created vice chairman of the party's Central Military Commission. This puts him directly under his father, who is its chief. Kim Jong Eun was also made a Central Committee member.
The appointment came a day after the younger Kim was also made a four-star general. Experts say that could be an indication that Kim Jong Eun will succeed his father and his grandfather as leader of North Korea.
The sister of leader Kim also won a seat at the key Political Bureau as a full member, being one of her brother's closest confidants.
