Azerbaijan can’t make own decisions, says expert
“As Armenia keeps on stating that status of Nagorno Karabakh isn’t a point at issue then it must withdraw this issue from the talks. For this it’s necessary that Armenia to recognize independence of Nagorno Karabakh,” told reporters Thursday expert at the Armenian Center of Strategic and National Studies, Manvel Sarkisian.
He said that Turkey did so in relation to the North Cyprus and Russia did the same with Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
“Armenian side says that the process of talks should pass within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group, while Azerbaijan is trying to re-move the talks to other structures,” said Sarkisian.
Referring to the status of Nagorno Karabakh, expert said that despite it isn’t a point at issue for Armenia, the Aliev administration continues saying that its single aim of participation in talks is to determine the status of Nagorno Karabakh as a part of Azerbaijan.
Manvel Sarkisian said that Azerbaijan turns out well in receiving political dividends within the process of settlement to the Karabakh conflict, and in particular, among them are introductions and acceptations of bills in the very serious bodies like the UN and PACE.
“Azerbaijan managed to involve Turkey into the process and thanks to this can also use military blackmailing,” said Sarkisian stressing that the Aliev administration doesn’t need a reason for resumption of military activities as it can’t make own decisions.
“Azerbaijan is trying to get the international community to accept that it has right to resume hostilities; however, Azerbaijan fails,” concluded Sarkisian.
