Armenian, NKR armed forces able to respond to Azerbaijan

The prolongation of terms of deployment of Russian military unit in Armenian town of Gyumri complies with interests of both Armenia and Russia, said at the press conference a Republican, Armenian lawmaker Gagik Melikian. 

“Russia has received the opportunity of a long-term presence in South Caucasus, while Armenia received long-term guarantees of security,” said Gagik Melikian.

He expressed confidence that Russia will do its best to ensure Armenia’s security. “Even if Nagorno Karabakh isn’t included into the agreement, nevertheless I believe that Nagorno Karabakh’ security is guaranteed. Russian troops keep Armenia’s security across the whole line of borders. I believe that the Armed Forces of Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh are able to meet and combat any military action of Azerbaijan,” said the lawmaker.
