Ganapolsky: Armenia is able to develop even without oil and gas
Russian political analyst Matvey Ganapolsky believes that Armenia is able to develop even without oil and gas.
“Azerbaijan has huge resources of gas and oil but they cannot last forever. When Aliyev is alone with his thoughts he thinks it is very difficult to be at loggerheads with Armenia,” Ganapolsky told Armenian reporters.
Speaking about Russian-Azerbaijani relations, with oil and gas factor playing an important role, about Russian foreign policy priorities, relations with regional countries, Ganapolsky said it is Russia’s domestic affair.
“Russia seeks to expand its presence in the region. It is important for Russia which has its own interests in the region. Russia wants to have an outpost in the region, but it does not hinder Armenia to carry out independent policy. I have never heard Russia ban Armenia’s reconciliation with Azerbaijan or establishment of relations with Turkey. Russia has its own interests, but presently that country is busy with the campaign against Luzhkov,” expert stated.
