A. Saghatelyan: We have another precedent of genocide
“Maragha is the subject that had remained unattended for many years, while we have facts, a series of murders committed for national belonging. Thus, we have another precedent of genocide which was deliberately and purposefully committed by the political authorities of our neighboring state,” Ara Saghatelyan, Director of Information and PR Center of Armenian President’s Administration, said at the presentation of documentary “Maragha, April 10, 1992.”
According to Saghatelyan, the next documentary of the “Ordinary Genocide” series will be about Khojaly events. Azerbaijani authorities painfully perceive any information about Khojaly events which contradicts to their official position, Saghatelyan stressed.
“We have assessments of experts, including those warmly welcomed by the Azerbaijani party, that fights proceeded in Khojaly after the Khojaly military operation, that is, Azerbaijan kept firing in response to the actions of the Armenian armed forces. We also have a recording of Thomas de Waal’s interview where he declares that he has never thought and asserted that these operations were planned,” Saghatelyan stated.
While, according to the speaker, one of Azeri Propaganda Machine’s key messages was that expert Thomas de Waal asserted the opposite.
In A. Saghatelyan’s opinion, facts testify that these events were the consequence of activities or inactivity of Azerbaijan’s political leadership, while everything spread by Azeri Propaganda Machine is intentionally created materials or photomontage.
The Center Director said that the Azerbaijani party aggressively responded to his recent statement about existence of Vera Frankl’s video since they do not like to be reminded about these materials. However, according to Saghatelyan, “these materials are kept in our archives as well as archives of Associated Press and other news agencies.” “It is a reportage, where there are a lot of armed people and people in uniforms among the victims, and the victims are the consequence of Azerbaijani political resolution on creation of a “live shield.”
