“Maragha, April 10, 1992” film premiere tomorrow on H1 TV channel
The premiere of documentary “Maragha, April 10, 1992” of the “Ordinary Genocide” series will be tomorrow, October 2, at 22.30 pm, on the Public Television of Armenia, Marina Grigoryan, author of the “Ordinary Genocide” project, told a news conference Friday.
According to M. Grigoryan, it is already the third film of the “Ordinary Genocide” series. The first two films are about the massacres of Baku committed in 1990 January and of Sumgayit committed in 1988 February. The films were translated into Russian, English, French, and Arabic, were placed on the web and released by disks.
“We keep looking for new facts about Armenian massacres in Baku and Sumgayit for making new films of these series,” M. Grigoryan said adding that Maragha is the first film about the tragedy that occurred already during the war.
She said that unfortunately, the international community did not pay proper attention to these events; “Against Legal Arbitrariness” NGO led by Larisa Alaverdyan presented applications and facts to the United Nations Commission on Human Rights (UNCHR), but the process remained incomplete.
The evidence and documents presented in the film elucidate the causes and consequences of the events of April 10, 1992, proving that destruction of the village of Maragha, mass slaughter and capture of women, children and old people by Azerbaijan directly related to Baku’s oil interests.
The “Ordinary Genocide” project is implemented by the Office of Public Relations and Mass Media attached to Armenian President’s Office. Project’s aim is to tell the truth about the events of 1988-1992 when the Armenian population of Azerbaijan and Nagorno Karabakh periodically underwent ethnic cleansing and genocide.
