Armenia-Georgia trade circulation increases by over 50 percent
There are no issues between Armenia and Georgia that cannot be solved through negotiations, Georgian and Armenian Foreign Ministers Grigol Vashadze and Edward Nalbandyan told a joint press conference in Yerevan.
Nalbandyan said that he has agreed with his Georgian counterpart to meet at least once every two months to discuss the problems faced by the two countries.
“There are no issues between the neighboring countries that cannot be solved through meetings and negotiations,” Nalbandyan stressed. The Georgian Foreign Minister also attached importance to frequent meetings.
“We will always have bilateral issues but it is important that the issues should not turn into problems,” Vashadze stated.
Nalbandyan said that the parties discussed many issues during the meeting, including trade circulation between Armenia and Georgia. The Minister noted that trade circulation between the parties increased by over 50 percent, over USD 40m, in the past 9 months of the current year, as compared with the previous year, and the number of Armenian tourists visiting Georgia exceeded 300,000.
G. Vashadze confirmed the trade circulation growth, meanwhile said that this index is not satisfactory for the post-crisis period.
“USD 114m is a shameful index for Armenia and Georgia,” Vashadze said stressing the necessity of raising the index.
