Grigol Vashadze refutes his statement on Russian bases
Armenia has a right to choose a security format for its people, and no one questions it, Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze stated at a joint press conference with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan today in Yerevan speaking about his previous statement that “the extension of deployment term of the Russian military base in Gyumri and strengthening the base poses threat to Armenia’s independence and sovereignty.”
“I am not going to discuss Armenia’s security issues but Georgia has a sovereign right to make statements on presence of Russian military bases in the South Caucasus,” Minister said. According to Vashadze, “the Russian bases indeed pose threat to Georgia’s sovereignty and independence.”
Speaking about proper statement the Minister thanked Armenian media for following his statements and said that he has not made such a statement on Armenia’s sovereignty and independence.
