Railway construction most important Armenian-Iranian project

Armenian-Iranian relations started to develop since Armenia’s independence. Currently they have reached high level, political scientist Yervand Bozoyan told a news conference.

“Really, Iran is a friendly country for Armenia. And henceforth Iran will be playing strategic role for our country due to construction of railway that will facilitate Armenia’s way to the Persian Bay,” political scientist stated.

In return, military expert David Jamalyan said that presence of railway would specify our position in the Nagorno Karabakh negotiations and Armenian-Turkish normalization.

Iranologist Mher Baghdasaryan addressing Nagorno Karabakh settlement stated that Iran is for resolving the Nagorno Karabakh problem by regional countries.

Speaking about Armenia’s mediation between the West and Iran the Iranologist said Armenia’s position in the region is not stable enough to assume mediation.

“However, it should be mentioned that Armenia has more abilities for that mediation than Azerbaijan or Turkey.”
