Kusturica quits film festival jury in Turkey
Serbian director Emir Kusturica has quit the jury of Antalya Golden Orange film festival after coming under fire over his alleged remarks about the Bosnian war, RIA Novosti said citing local media.
News reports say Kusturica announced his decision Sunday at a news conference in the Turkish resort of Antalya, complaining about the criticism in the media and by some officials.
Turkish media have reported that Kusturica repeatedly downplayed the number of killed during the war and the raping of Muslim women. It was not clear when Kusturica made those comments but daily Milliyet said Sunday that Kusturica denied the allegations.
