UN Security Council to select new members
Today in the United Nations General Assembly will be held the elections of the non-permanent members of the Security Council of 2011-2012: for the 5 vacant places there are 6 countries presented.
As reported by RIA Novosti, Germany, Canada and Portugal pretend the places of Austria and the Turkey which complet their authorities in the European-Atlantic regional group. In the Asian regional group Japan should be replaced by India; the South African Republic will replace Uganda, South African Republic, in the Latin American Group Colombia will replace Mexico.
The countries that leave the Security Council have no right to be offered within the upcoming two years.
All the 192 countries will partake in the elections. The country which will gather not less than two third of the votes in the region will be elected.
