Georgian Education Ministry faces textbook problem
“Georgian Ministry of Education faces textbook problem. Publishing textbooks is not under government jurisdiction, and copyright for textbook publishing belongs to private publishers,” Georgian Minister of Education and Science Dimitri Shashkini stated in Yerevan commenting upon the sad condition of Armenian-language textbooks in Georgia.
“I regret to say that some textbooks, and not only Armenian-language, are low quality,” Georgian Minister said. “We have reached an agreement with the Armenian Ministry of Education to send new textbooks to Armenia for approval.”
Dimitri Shashkini also addressed reduction in the number of Armenian schools in Georgia saying that all educational specialists advise to reduce the number of schools to improve quality of education.
