Turkey to pay off debt to IMF in 2012
Turkey will pay off its debt to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in 2012, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated. According to him, presently, Turkey owes USD 6.1bn to IMF.
“We overcame the major international crisis without IMF’s assistance, by mobilizing our abilities and sources. Now we no longer work with IMF,” Erdogan said, according to gazeta.ru.
Erdogan stated that when his party took power, Turkey owed USD 23.5bn to IMF.
