Sharmazanov does not expect breakthrough from Astrakhan meeting
This meeting is not a surprise as the negotiation process continues and Russia is actively involved in the talks, Spokesman of the Republican Party of Armenia Eduard Sharmazanov told aysor.am speaking about the tripartite meeting of the Armenian, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents to be held on October 27 in Astrakhan.
“I hope this time Azerbaijan’s President will accept the fact that the talks proceed according to Saint Petersburg proposals developed on the basis of Madrid document. Ilham Aliyev had better not escape the talks this time, nor organize a diversion,” parliamentarian said.
Sharmazanov does not expect breakthrough from the meeting as the Artsakh authorities are not yet involved in the talks.
“President Serzh Sargsyan has repeatedly said that Armenian party prioritizes Artsakh status; Karabakh cannot be part of Azerbaijan, and Karabakh people should be master of its own fate.”
