ARFD: Artsakh should participate in negotiations

ARFD accepts three key provisions of Madrid document – equality of peoples’ rights, right of self-determination, territorial integrity, ARF Political Director Giro Manoyan told a news conference in Yerevan adding that these principles are acceptable because “territorial integrity does not relate to Azerbaijan’s Soviet borders.”

“The rest are not principles but steps based on these principles and presented by the mediators. We do not accept these steps which disregard the fact that the people of Nagorno Karabakh at least twice expressed its will through referenda, in 1991 and 2006. The people of Nagorno Karabakh wishes to be independent from Azerbaijan,” Manoyan stated.

He mentioned that we have nothing to give Azerbaijan, especially as this territory is as much Armenian as any NKR territory mentioned by the mediators.

“Renouncing this territory would pose danger to Armenia’s and Artsakh’s security,” politician said.

Giro Manoyan stressed that Artsakh should participate in the negotiations to achieve fair and stable peace.
