“To build future, one should have good memory”
On November 17, parliament of Uruguay hosted a solemn event to mark the 45th anniversary of its adoption of Armenian Genocide Resolution 13.226. The event was organized by the Armenian National Committee of South America and General Assembly of Uruguay.
Uruguay was the first state to officially recognize the Armenian Genocide, MFA press office said.
Vice President and Chairman of the General Assembly Danilo Astori said: “Adoption of the resolution by parliament in 1965 proved our country’s commitment to ideas of freedom, peace, human rights. To build future, one should have good memory. The people of Uruguay showed consolidation to the Armenian people in the fight for restoration of its rights.”
