NATO summit comes as pleasant surprise to Saakashvili
Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili told Le Figaro newspaper that NATO summit hosted by Lisbon came as a “pleasant surprise” to him, since the summit did not address the issue of Georgia as secondary, against his expectations.
“It came as a pleasant surprise to me. Georgia’s issue was not addressed as secondary though the agenda included many issues – Afghanistan, adoption of a new strategy, Russia-NATO relations,” Saakashvili said.
He attached importance to the fact that the summit said Georgia will join NATO some day.
