Armenian parliamentary delegation hosted by Syrian President

On November 24, NA Speaker’s delegation was hosted by President of Syria Bashar al-Assad, NA press office reports.

Welcoming Armenia’s parliamentary delegation Syrian President Bashar al-Assad highly assessed President Sargsyan’s last visit to Syria for deepening Syrian-Armenian friendly relations.

The Syrian President attached importance to NA Speaker’s official visit to Syria. He stressed necessity of expansion of interparliamentary cooperation. He appreciated the role of the Armenian community of Syria for expansion of Armenian-Syrian brotherly relations.

NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan thanked for a warm welcome and conveyed President Serzh Sargsyan’s greetings and good wishes to the Syrian President. H. Abrahamyan said that mutual visits of the two Presidents further strengthen Armenian-Syrian friendship.

Hovik Abrahamyan stated Syria had invaluable importance in Armenian people’s history, thanks to Syria’s assistance Armenians were sheltered in Syria after the Armenian Genocide.

The meeting also addressed Armenian-Turkish relations, regional conflicts, necessity to resolve conflicts through peaceful negotiations.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad asked Hovik Abrahamyan to convey his greetings and good wishes to President Serzh Sargsyan.
