Turkey seeks to reinforce Turkey-Georgia-Azerbaijan axis
Turkey is numbered among the five countries that provided armament and military aid to Georgia, according to data published by the Russian Defense Ministry in 2008, Strategic Research Institute expert Vladimir Ivanov told reporters.
According to the expert, some sources say Turkey’s military aid to Georgia exceeds USD 55m.
Touching upon Turkish-Georgian military cooperation and its danger to Armenia V. Ivanov said the cooperation is rather conditioned by Turkey’s geopolitical ambitions.
“Turkey seeks to reinforce Turkey-Georgia-Azerbaijan axis by all means, by turkizing many fields.”
As to Turkey’s military aid to Georgia, Ivanov said Turkey seeks to some extent ensure its presence and to “form pro-Turkish officer staff” in Georgia.
“Many Georgian officers get trained in Turkey, become pro-Turkish thus ensuring Turkish lobbying in Georgia. Eventually, it will pose danger to Armenia,” Ivanov said in his remarks.
