Armenian-Belarusian business forum kicks off in Yerevan
Yerevan is hosting Armenian-Belarusian business forum. The forum is organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Armenia in cooperation with the Embassy of Belarus in Armenia.
The forum hosts Belarusian business delegation, with representatives of 12 companies, led by Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Belarus Vasily Romanov.
“The level of Armenian-Belarusian trade and economic ties is approaching the level of our political dialogue,” Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Armenia, Stepan Sukhorenko said.
According to the Ambassador, trade turnover between Armenia and Belarus was affected by the economic crisis, reducing 1.5 percent, however, in the 10 months of 2010 trade turnover grew 75 percent as compared with 2009.
S. Sukhorenko highly assessed economic diversification which opens new fields of cooperation.
Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Belarus Vasily Romanov stated that Armenia is the ninth business partner of Belarus in the volumes of trade turnover.
According to V. Romanov, Belarus and Armenia have unused potential of cooperation, particularly, in sector of mechanical engineering, agriculture, industry.
During the four-day stay in Armenia, Belarusian delegation will visit Armenian-Belarusian joint ventures, Ministry of Economy, Yerevan Mayor’s Office, will have private meetings with Armenian businessmen.
Next Armenian-Belarusian business forum is due in Belarus.
