IT sector raises competitiveness in Armenian business environment

Conference “From Outsourcing to Innovations” kicked off in Yerevan today. The conference addresses web technologies and their introduction to business fields.

Minister of Economy Nerses Yeritsyan addressing the opening of the conference said that information and high technologies confirmed their priority mission in Armenia’s economic development, assisting efficiency and innovations in the country.

“IT sector also raises competitiveness in Armenian business environment. Information communication and high technologies raise competitiveness of enterprises in global markets,” Minister said.

According to Orange Armenia CEO Bruno Duthoit, over the past year, unthinkable developments and uneven growth were observed in the Armenian market: the number of Internet users doubled and consumed traffic volume grew more than three-fold.

“Armenia’s population, especially youth, need innovations,” Bruno Duthoit said.

Note that winners of the ArmNet Awards 2010 will be announced as part of the conference.
