BBC: Iranian television denies reports on Ashtiani’s release
Press-TV Iranian channel denies earlier reports on release of Sakineh Ashtiani Mohammadi, the Iranian sentenced to death by stoning, BBC Russian reports.
Note that earlier leading news agencies, particularly, AFP citing Anti-Stoning Committee reported that the Iranian authorities released Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, her son and her lawyer, meanwhile saying that Tehran has not commented upon the report.
The woman was initially sentenced to be stoned, but the execution was put on hold for review her case because of the campaign that Western countries and human rights organizations launched against the sentence.
Sakineh's son, Sajjad Ghaderzadeh, and her lawyer Houtan Kian Javid, were arrested in early October with two German journalists that interviewed after months of campaigning to free his mother.
