Transparency International criticizes FIFA
International anti-corruption organization Transparency International castigated the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) for the fact that it decided to hold the World Cup in 2018 in Russia, reports Deutsche Welle. In particular, the representative of Transparency International Sylvia Schenk (Sylvia Schenk) noted that Russia - "the most corrupt countries in Europe and globally, in accordance with an index of corruption, it takes 154 out of 178 countries."
FIFA in recent years has repeatedly appeared in the scandalous stories involving corruption. For example, most recently in connection with such scandals from his duties were suspended two high-ranking functionary of the International Federation of Football Associations. According to Sylvia Schenk, for many poor people around the world a sport like football - is a kind of hope.
"FIFA should help it to such people. But now it does not, but on the contrary," - says Schenk, according to Deutsche Welle.
Furthermore, a spokeswoman for Transparency International suggested that the decision to hold the 2018 World Cup in Russia has become an act of revenge against the British, whose efforts to participate in the contest for the championship ended in failure.
