U.S. does not recognize Belarus elections
The United States administration did not recognize the results of Belarus presidential elections as legitimate and called for the immediate release of all opposition politicians detained during mass protests.
White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs criticized Belarusian police for dispersing the mass protest near the government building, according to BBC.
“We call for the immediate release of all opposition ex-presidential candidates and hundreds of other people arrested on December 19 and 20,” U.S. administration’s statement said.
“The United States cannot recognize as legitimate the results announced by Belarusian CEC on December 20,” the While House said.
