UN GA passes resolutions on self-determination of peoples
The United Nations General Assembly has lately unanimously passed resolutions on the right of peoples to self-determination, MFA press office reports.
UN GA adopted a resolution on universal realization of the right of peoples to self-determination which urges to pay a special attention to cases of violation of this right. Many member states of the organization believe that the right of self-determination is one of the fundamental principles of the international law.
Another resolution adopted lately in New York relates to cooperation between the United Nations and the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). The General Assembly calls on the United Nations and the Organization of the Islamic Conference to continue cooperation towards settlement of universal problems, such as international peace and security, disarmament, human rights and fundamental freedoms and right of peoples to self-determination.
Adoption of the mentioned resolutions was preceded by discussions in relevant UN bodies. Besides concerned member states of UN, Armenia also attended the discussions.
